CloudStack Roadmap
PDF Print E-mail

Prior to 3.0, features and bugfixes often accompanied every CloudStack release, and often a new release occurred every month. Going forward, CloudStack is adopting a ~6 month release cycle. Of course bugfix releases will continue to be released as needed, but should not incorporate any additional features. A quick caveat here: these features and the schedule are of course subject to change. Development priorities, particularly in open source software projects often change, so no guarantees.

Status quo:

Hypervisors Supported:

  • KVM
  • XenServer
  • XCP
  • VMware
[Hyper-V support has been requested and will be tracked in Feature Enhancement 4061]

Networking Features:

  • DHCP
  • Routing
  • Management of certain external network hardware (loadbalancer, firewall, etc)
  • VLAN
  • Security Groups
  • VPN
  • Firewall

  • High Availability
  • Overprovisioning
  • Gorgeous Web UI
  • Stable RESTful API with output in XML or JSON

  • Ability to manage geographically disparate compute clouds from a single management interface.
